Paving work at Ronald McDonald House

This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for our ongoing partnership with Ronald McDonald House charities

For nearly ten years, Rose Paving has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, donating our paving services and visiting to cook our favorite recipes for their Meals from the Heart program. Today, Rose Paving has a robust philanthropy program that maintains our commitment to giving back to our communities throughout the year, and it was our earliest partnership with Ronald McDonald House that launched it all. Our dedication to serving the people we care about doesn’t stop at providing superior paving services to our customers: we are also dedicated to lending a helping hands to those in need.

Why We Love Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House Charities help sick children and their families focus on beating their illnesses by providing housing near the specialty treatment centers at little to no cost, keeping families together and allowing kids to travel to find the best care. The Meals from the Heart program was developed by the Ronald McDonald House near Chicago’s Lurie’s Children’s Hospital to provide families with fresh, home-cooked meals lovingly prepared by volunteers. As a national provider, the Rose Paving family stretches across the U.S. and Canada, and so does the Ronald McDonald House family. This year our Chicago, Tampa and Southern California teams have all partnered with local Ronald McDonald House charities to spread a message close to our hearts: that the Rose Paving family is wholehearted, reliable, purposeful and giving.

Giving Every Job Our All

Fred Coleman, who pioneered Rose Paving’s involvement with the Ronald McDonald house nearly a decade ago, says he and his fellow team members take great pride in the meals they prepare for the families staying at Ronald McDonald homes. The Meals from the Heart program asks volunteers to prepare a meal and provides menu guidelines a few weeks in advance. Once our volunteers have picked their cuisine, “We go out and get fresh ingredients,” Coleman said. “I go to the store that day.” We have some skilled amateur chefs at Rose Paving, and we work hard to make our volunteer meal delicious and fun for the families we serve. “We like to do themed events, where we’ll do Italian, Mexican, grilling, you name it. We even do tailgate food for football season,” Coleman said. Just like we give each paving project our all, we bring the same enthusiasm to our philanthropy work. “Most of the times I’ve gone, they comment that it’s one of the best meals they’ve had in awhile.”
